Damian Lillard turned the 2024 NBA All-Star Game into a shooting spectacle by pulling off an incredible performance. He contributed 39 points, three rebounds, and six assists, leading the Eastern Conference to a 211-186 win over the West. Fresh out of the Starry 3-Point Contest as a winner, Dame delivered the same energy to the game by making 11 out of 23 3-pointers and 14 of 26 from the field. Unsurprisingly, he was crowned as the MVP of the match.

Dame dominated the game with his 3s and in a wild display of sheer skills, sank a half-court shot in the third quarter followed by another one towards the end of the last quarter. This performance has prompted NFL legend Shannon Sharpe to tout Dame as a greater long-range shooter than Steph Curry.

In the latest episode of his Nightcap show, Shannon contends that although Steph is the greatest shooter the world has seen, he isn’t as good as Dame when taking long-range shots. He says, “I think Steph is the greatest shooter, but when it comes to distance, don’t think anybody can beat Dame Dolla.” To add to his point, Shannon asserts, “I’m talking about just pure shooting, Steph probably is it.” However, after seeing what Dame did in the ASG, Shannon believes that when long distance is involved, Dame is far better than Steph.
“When I’m talking about distance, I’m talking 35-40 feet,” Shannon says, crediting Dame for sinking two half-court shots in the game. Dame’s massive contributions helped set a new ASG record; the Eastern Conference’s 211 points was the first to surpass the 200-point threshold and also became the highest team score in All-Star game history. To top it off, Dame broke a personal record by becoming the only player after Michael Jordan to win All-Star MVP after winning a Saturday event.

The ASG concluded, and as Dame went forward to receive his MVP trophy, he was met with booing from the crowd. He later said, “I expect it. We in his [Tyrese Haliburton] home town, we in his building. He had a great game but it’s an honor. I’ve been here quite a few times, so to be able to have this type of accomplishment is special.” Haliburton also put up a great performance and contributed 32 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.
