The opening match of the night was an intense one, with both Rhodes and the Scottish Warrior utilizing their best weapons from their arsenals. In the climax of the match, Rhodes pointed to the WrestleMania XL sign and prepared to end the match. However, Jimmy Uso burst onto the scene to distract him. And while Rhodes got rid of the Samoan and turned his focus back to McIntyre, to whom he tried to apply a Cross Rhodes, Solo Sikoa appeared behind him to execute a Samoan spike while the referee remained distracted by his brother. McIntyre took advantage of the situation to end the fight with a decisive Claymore for the win.
