For the past few months, the British tennis player hasn’t been in good form, and because of this, a lot of journalists and tennis fans have presented their opinions regarding Murray’s retirement. Moreover, the former world number one ranked tennis player’s six-match losing streak has stopped him from moving past the first round in the competitions that he has participated in this year. However, this can’t stop him.
In a recent interview with Sky Sports Tennis, he opened up about his thoughts on whether he has considered retiring soon or not. He stated, “I don’t have to do what fans, journalists or anyone is telling me to do. I’m qualifying for all these tournaments on my right, on my ranking, from the matches that I’ve won. Murray will not do ‘the easiest thing’
Since the beginning of 2018, the three-time Grand Slam champion has had difficulty advancing quickly to the third round. He has only participated in ATP 250 events this year, except the Australian Open, and he hasn’t had much luck in those. However, that does not imply that he needs to think about retiring. In a press conference, after losing to Tomas Machac in Montpellier, he stated how he plans to play in the challengers.
Murray mentioned, “Maybe I will have to play in Challengers. The easiest thing for me would have been to leave my career. But I continue because I love the game, I love to train.” Considering the current situation, he also highlighted that it will be easier for him to compete at that level. Additionally, he also said that whatever is happening around him on the court does not affect his career at all.
