There are very real concerns among fans that Conor McGregor may never fight again. Originally slated to make his comeback late last year against rival TUF 31 coach Michael Chandler, ‘The Notorious’ announced he will make his comeback after three years on June 39 at UFC 302. This claim was quickly contradicted by UFC boss Dana White, who told reporters McGregor was not ready to fight.

With his comeback pushed back to late this year, his Hollywood debut around the corner, and rumblings of a possible political career, UFC fans fear the wealthiest mixed martial artist in the history of the sport may be moving on to greener pastures. While the Irishman has fared with a lot of criticism from fans over his perceived unseriousness and stringing fans along, the former two-division champion is continuing his philanthropic work.

Conor McGregor sponsors trip to Disneyland

Conor McGregor sponsored the trip of a group of young girls from Kym’s Company to Disneyland, Paris. On his official Instagram account, the Dubliner posted a video of the girls thanking him for the gesture with the spires of the magical kingdom in the background. “Thanks girls. Enjoy,” McGregor wrote.

Although McGregor puts on a villainous, arrogant, provocative persona, his philanthropic acts and donations are well known. The Irishman donated $1 million towards Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s mortgage relief program, as well as building houses for the homeless in Dublin last year, the same year as he appeared as a head coach on ‘The Ultimate Fighter’.

While he had expressed a desire to fight at UFC 300 (to which Chandler had agreed immediately), Dana White announcing Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill for the anniversary card has closed the door on that, too. While the Irishman’s fight career, even if he chooses to fight again, seems on its last legs, there are other, potentially more lucrative horizons that the Irishman may prefer over being punched in the face for a living.

McGregor’s film is set to release next month as he hints at a political run

Conor McGregor’s big screen debut, a remake of 1989 classic ‘Road House’, where his character ‘Knox’ is the chief foil to Jake Gyllenhaal‘s protagonist ‘Dalton’, will release on March 21. While the film has gotten rave reviews in early screening, according to director Doug Liman, it will not be released in theaters but will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime instead.

Along with his Hollywood debut, McGregor has also seemingly put his toes in the water of politics with his response to last year’s Dublin Riots. In the aftermath of five people, including young children being stabbed in Dublin late last year allegedly by an illegal immigrant, protests took a violent and anti-immigrant turn. ‘The Notorious’ took to Twitter and expressed his frustration about the Republic of Ireland’s immigration policies and declared ominously “Ireland, we are at war”. He claimed that “a move must be made to ensure the change we need is ushered in,” and claimed he was “in the process of arranging”. Judging by his trajectory so far, surely this could mean a political move on his part.
