UFC 298: Dana White Rewards Ilia Topuria for Alexander Volkanovksi KO; Mackenzie Dern, Amanda Lemos All Receive Bonus

UFC 298 just went down and it was a phenomenal card. The MMA world got to see several upsets and entertaining fights. The main event featured two featherweight titans going at it to secure the divisional title. In the co-main event, middleweight fighters, Robert Whittaker and Paulo Costa gave a good showing of one another and entertained us fans.

The rest of the card was equally as eventful, if not more. However, with so many great performances,  one would be curious to know to whom would Dana White hand out the post-fight rewards. Well, wait no further and let’s find it out.

The fight of the night goes to none other than Amanda Lemos and Mackenzie Dern. The two ladies put on a hell of a performance of constant back and forth and neither of them took a step back. Although Lemos won the bout, Dern gave a good showing of herself and her will to compete. 

There were finishes on the card but the only three managed to win performance bonuses. One of them is the new featherweight champion of the world, Ilia Topuria who was knocked out by Alexander Volkanovski in the second round. This is one of the biggest upsets of the card if not the big biggest. Needless to say, the Spanish fighter deserves this acclaim, and would be exciting to see him compete going forward as a champion.

Moreover, the other fighter to get the performance of the night is Anthony Hernandez for submitting Roman Kopylov in the second round. The bout was competitive, but ultimately it was Hernandez who secured himself a great win. Last but not least, in a prelim fight, Zhang Mingyang sealed the deal after defeating Brendson Ribeiro in the first round via a knockout. All said fighters will be financially rewarded to get $50,000 each on top of their fight purse. Moreover, now that we know about their bonuses, let’s take a look at their guaranteed purse.

The card featured several notable fighters. It is only reasonable to presume that the fighters would be getting compensated well financially. As per several reports, Volkanovski is all set to get a whooping massive $750000 guaranteed purse. However, Topuria being the contender is set to receive $350000 as his guaranteed purse excluding bonuses.

So far as the co-main event is concerned, Robert Whittaker is set to get  $300000 as a guaranteed purse. Whereas, Paulo Costa is placed is set to get less as his guaranteed purse is at $250000.
