Back in 2016, Conor McGregor announced his retirement from the Octagon. At first, this was not taken so seriously, however, later reports made it seem that McGregor’s announcement was serious. The curious thing about this was the subsequent rumors, which claimed that the sudden retirement of the former UFC champion pointed to a debut in the world of wrestling, specifically in the WWE.

After making the announcement, McGregor began following Stephanie and Shane McMahon, Triple H, and wrestler Becky Lynch on Twitter. And if that wasn’t enough, the WWE itself echoed the talks through a video on its official YouTube account, where they also showed some winks from McGregor’s coach about being a manager within WWE. However, as we all know that did not happen and McGregor made his return and is still a MMA fighter. However, seems like the WWE hasn’t moved on as they had Michael Chandler call out the Notorious on RAW and now they’re pushing the two to finish their story.

After his injury to Dustin Poirier in July 2021, Conor McGregor is looking for an opportunity to make an impactful return. The Ultimate Fighter was going to be the stage where Conor McGregor climbed back into the cage. However, this goal was held back by USADA, as the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency required the fighter to test for drugs before six months for return to competition. And ever since, the Notorious has been on the sidelines. But we may get to finally see him soon as Michael Chandler called him out tonight on RAW and people are rooting for a confrontation at WrestleMania. Not just people, as the WWE too is asking the two to finish their story as evident from their latest tweet as they wrote, “FINISH THE STORY…”

However, the two are said to fight on June 29th, as the Notorious announced on his social networks that he will fight again on June 29 in Las Vegas and will do so against Michael Chandler. McGregor confirmed that the weight will be 185 pounds, a weight class in which neither fighter has ever fought.

Chandler has shared numerous videos of his preparation on his networks, although for many McGregor is the favorite, despite the months he has not competed. It will be almost two years since ‘The Notorious’ was injured and had to undergo surgery, which led to a long recovery in which he had to spend six months on crutches. So it will be fun to see what the WWE has in plans for the two as it seems less likely that the two will be fighting at WrestleMania. What do you think? What’s planned for the two?
