Right after the 2024 Daytona 500, Jeff Gordon’s delight was apparent as he made a bold statement about William Byron’s future. Gordon announced as he conveyed his success: “It makes you realize how hard this race is to win and how special it is.” 

His excitement skyrocketed as he stressed the significance of seeing the #24 car back in Victory Lane on such a historic occasion: “It’s 2024. To see the 24 pull into the victory lane in the Daytona. 40 years to the day of Hendrick Motorsport’s first Daytona 500. Just Unbelievable. You know, through all the accomplishments out, it just feels like this is the first time all over again,” remarks Gordon.

When asked how Gordon felt to be in such a position for the potential championship, something they narrowly missed out on last year, he said, “This is just an amazing way of getting started… And this team has shown in the last couple of year [they] just continue to raise the bar… And this [victory] is going to take that to the nest level. And this is a championship on its own, right?” 

 

Gordon, on a concluding note, said, “So they might have missed out on the championship overall last year, but this is a championship.”
