While fans have been hating him lately because of his involvement in the Cody Rhodes-Roman Reigns drama, fans would still love Dwayne Johnson when he is outside the ring due to his ability to connect with people. Sometimes, it is just simple, everyday things that are special and Johnson respects these everyday things a lot. Something similar happened at the Daytona 500 lately when the Hollywood icon bonded with a fan. Little did anybody know it was supposed to be a reunion.

Dwayne Johnson reunites with an old buddy

In a tweet posted by the Brahma Bull, he was seen mentioning someone who tried to grab his attention by mentioning his high school football coach. Along with the clip, he wrote, “Crazy moment here. You’ll see at the end, I’m shooting a cellphone vid for a guy – he gets my attention, by yelling my old high school in Pennsylvania (Freedom) and mentioning my high school football coach, Jody Cwick. “

He further explained as to why that name caught his attention. Johnson further elaborated that the first time the authorities arrested him was when he was 15 years old. Upon learning this, Coach Cwick advised him by saying, “Hey stop getting arrested and come play football for me”. Johnson further mentioned that he did as the coach told him, and his life has changed because of that.

He further added that he still looks up in the sky, thinking of his coach and praying that he rests in peace. The Hollywood star concluded by saying that this was the last thing he was expecting. Moreover, he expressed his delight at the fact that it happened today.

While football changed his life, he revealed his motivation on why he kept his American Football venture afloat despite suffering $60 Million in losses.

The Rock’s love for football

Johnson’s football career crashed even before it could take off due to a career-threatening injury. Thus, he shifted to pro wrestling and made his WWE debut in 1996. Fast forward to 2020, Johnson took over the ownership of XFL, a spring football minor league. While the company suffered a significant loss in 2023, he is still pushing it and even made a huge collaboration with USFL.

When the merger between XFL and USFL happened, the new league donned the name of the United Football League. He stated his motivation behind pushing through for the league. Johnson aimed at providing opportunities for people who are involved in this sport. Whether it be ex-NFL coaches or stars who had to drop out due to injuries or not getting drafted, UFL is meant to create an opportunity for all.
