Tiger Woods did not have the start he wanted in 2024! The 48-year-old first had a forgetful performance during the first round of the 2024 Genesis Invitational, carding a score of 1-over 72. This lackluster performance was followed by his withdrawal in the second round due to flu symptoms.

Despite all this, the golf community still believes he has a lot left in his tank. This was recently affirmed by Dame Laura Davies, the legendary English golfer. She said if Woods hadn’t been ill, he would have made the cut for the weekend rounds. Furthermore, she believes he can win this year too but with one condition. “I think he’ll win this year if he stays fit,” Davies said.

However, fitness has been the biggest enemy for the 48-year-old. Tiger Woods has been suffering from injuries and surgeries for the better part of last year. But he will be looking to put it all behind him and get a win this year, like Davies wants.
The current state of Tiger Woods
Davies also liked the performance of Woods at his first event after months. She praised him for hitting the fairway multiple times despite a long break. Talking about the symptoms, she said, “The good thing is – it’s not the back, it’s not the leg. It just seems like he’s not well.”
Woods himself confirmed recently that he is suffering from influenza but is feeling better. But it takes almost 2 full weeks to recover from this ailment. So it looks like the 48-year-old will be missing out on quite a few events in March too. Another concerning piece of news regarding the American golfer was his walk.

While entering for the second round, Tiger Woods was seen limping to the greens. Furthermore, he also suffered from back spasms during the event, leading to a terrible shank in the first round. So it looks like the 48-year-old is not fully recovered yet, despite Davies feeling otherwise.
But he still put up a great show for his fans, displaying a never-give-up attitude and earning the respect of the golf community. Despite all this, he still has a long way to go to recover from his injuries and current condition.
