Breakout Colorado Buffaloes’ freshman, Dylan Edwards is extending his impact beyond the gridiron. With an impressive record of four touchdowns and 159 all-purpose yards, Edwards has evolved as a rising star in Deion Sanders’ squad. 

Having experience playing baseball and football, Edwards is now trying his luck at being a track star. Devoting sometime of his practice sessions, he took part in a conversation with Sports Reporter, Richie Cozzolino. This conversation brought forward the player’s take on Coach Prime.  

Edwards asserts confidence in himself over Sanders

The Buffaloes’ running back sensation left an indelible mark on the football field in 2023. He became the first true freshman to amass 250 rushing and receiving yards in a single season in school history. Edwards now embarks on a new journey as a two-sport athlete. CBS Colorado Sports’ Cozzolino recently caught up with the player at the CU indoor practice facility. On being asked about the result of a 1-on-1 matchup between him and Coach Prime, in a candid revelation, Edwards said, “See I’m biased. I’m still gonna say I’m winning but Coach Prime is fine. That’s my guy. I have to take myself over him any day.” 

His statement adds to the prospect for NFL fans to witness the running back facing off against former NFL star and Hall of Famer Sanders. By mentioning himself as biased, he acknowledges Sanders’ undeniable athletic prowess. With this, Edwards exhibited his versatility while embarking on a new journey as a two-sport athlete.

Edwards’ journey from gridiron glory to the track

Besides excelling in his role as Buffaloes wide receiver, Edwards focuses on the transformative impact of track on his overall athleticism. The player shared his views stating, “Coming to college, I’ve seen how track can elevate your game to another level. Running track here at CU is going to make me better for the fall season.”

To note his impressive record, Edwards completed the 60-yard dash and reached the finals with a notable time of 6.92. With this, he has focused on leveraging his speed and agility to make a mark both on the field and on the track. As he gears up for his second year at Folsom Field, he has set his expectations high by aspiring to get a bowl game and having over eight wins.
