After the end of the three rounds of their UFC 298 clash, Ian Machado Garry emerged victorious via a split decision over Geoff Neal. This comes as a reprieve for the beleaguered Garry who has been dealing with hate from fans since last year over controversies surrounding his wife, who fans accuse of ‘trapping’ him.

Garry won a 30-27, 30-27, 28-29 split decision to keep his undefeated streak intact even as Neal suffers the fourth loss in his last six fights. While two of the judges and Joe Rogan were convinced that the Irishman had comfortably won, not everyone was on board.

Former UFC star and Bellator champion Ben Askren felt that Neal won the bout by one point and opined that the rounds were close for the most part. ‘Funky’ was puzzled at why Rogan was so sure Garry won, even as Garry himself admitted that he was not surprised Neal won on one of the judges’ scorecards.

Garry’s wife continues to face fans’ wrath

Ian Machado Garry’s wife Layla Machado continued to draw flak from the fans during UFC 298 as she was seemingly seated separate section by the UFC, away from the fans. questions were raised around Layla Machado allegedly getting ‘special treatment’ from the UFC, which it does not extend to the partners of other fighters.

It seems the UFC decided to keep Machado away from the fans due to safety concerns as she is wildly unpopular among fans and even some fighters. The former journalist and broadcaster became the center of attention right from her husband’s walkout.
