Paris Olympics 2024 Hopeful USA Wrestling Team Hits the Mat With Aim To Replicate Pan Am Success

With the 2024 Paris Olympics inching closer, wrestlers around the country are eyeing a spot in the national team. Along with that, the Olympic team qualifiers are also looming overhead with promises of glory on the big stage in the European capital later this year. Moreover, as the Pan Am Championships are around the corner, the perfect stepping stone for the Olympics is already set and Greco-Roman wrestlers are fixated on recreating last year’s success once again.

While several freestyle wrestlers are already confirmed for the Pan Am Championships, the Greco-Roman squad is gearing up to showcase its talent as well. With that in mind, the athletes were recently spotted bringing out their A-game ahead of the trip to Acapulco, Mexico.

In their latest post on Instagram, the official USA Wrestling account shared snippets of the Greco-Roman wrestlers sweating it out on the mat with their eyes on the prize. “Pan-American Championships and Qualifier prep“, reads the caption of the post, and the wrestlers look determined to rack up medals at the PanAm Championships. The Olympic qualifiers will be held after the Championships in the same venue, and naturally, the stakes look high.

The post shows wrestlers like Mahmoud Sebie (82kg) perfecting their grappling skills to make sure the 2024 Pan Am Championship is made to be a memorable tournament. Last year, Team USA won six gold medals in Greco-Roman style, and this year’s entry list is looking promising enough as well.

At the 2023 Pan Am Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Kamal Bey won a gold medal in the men’s 77kg Greco-Roman wrestling, and this year too, he has been announced as part of the Team USA. The entry list also features last year’s Pan Am gold medalist Spencer Woords (82kg) and the up-and-coming Greco-Roman star Cohlton Schultz. Along with these wrestling sensations, names have also been announced in the freestyle squad for the PanAm as the Paris Olympics beckons on the horizon.

Pan Am Championships will host a formidable Team USA

Iowa Hawkeyes’ very own Spencer Lee is set to represent the USA later this month in Mexico, while his arch-nemesis Nick Suriano will be bumping up a weight class as a last-ditch effort to qualify for the 2024 Olympics. National icons like Kyle Dake, Kyle Snyder, and Nathan Jackson have all been announced as part of the US contingent for the Pan Am Championships. The women’s squad looks equally power-packed.
