Many gymnasts were open with their picks, but Hong initially moved out of the camera’s panorama shot. He popped back saying, “I don’t know that,” awkwardly smiling as looked at his confused teammate. They both came to a mutual point saying, “the future is scary,” repeating to each other. Finally reaching a conclusion together, as his fellow teammate left saying “past” Hong confirmed, “yea, past, past.”
Standford athlete Hong last competed at San Jose in a two-day event, on Day 1 he scored 85.615, a victorious yell was added to the fascinating performance as he descended gracefully. Drawing applause that echoed around the arena as the final day of the competition concluded with 85.315. Khoi Young, another Stanford men’s gymnast was only 1.475 points behind Hong which is a wide margin in gymnastics. His win was coupled with another historic American record.

Asher Hong won the all-around competition at the 2023 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships with an impressive score of 170.930. He made history as the first male teen gymnast to win a men’s all-around national title since Tim Ryan and John Orozco in 1989 and 2012, respectively.
It’s worth noting that the American team has not won a medal at a significant international tournament since the 2014 Worlds. However, with the addition of Yul Moldauer, who returned from the Olympics, and the three rookies Young, Richard, and Paul Juda joining Hong in the Worlds team, there is hope for the team this fall.

According to Hong, a successful performance at the Olympic Games is crucial for uplifting men’s gymnastics status. It is a challenging time as the sportsmen struggle to show promise, unlike women’s teams. However, having a dedicated team that can perform well on the world stage would be a significant boost for the sport.
