World Champion Noah Lyles recently bagged a phenomenal victory run at the USATF Indoor Championship. The 26-year-old defeated his national rival and compatriot Christian Coleman to land an equalizer for his 2023 track season. With this, Lyles just won his second 60m indoor gold of the season.

While Noah Lyles did win against a big rival of his, his emotions were pooling around another thought in his head. A new social media post showed the Budapest threepeater shedding tears right after his indoor victory. In fact, the 6x World Champ ended up bawling over his journey after he achieved a grand feat.

Noah Lyles leaves a tear-jerking message

Noah Lyles added a new tweet on his X following his win against Christian Coleman. The tweet carried the caption, “I have waited and worked for 8 years to see the numbers I have produced this year in the 60m. I’m so glad it’s finally here.” The tweet featured an image of Lyles lying on his back on the tracks with his hands covering his face.

Noah Lyles secured the win in the 60m dash with a 6.43s finish. On the other hand, Coleman was just 0.01 seconds slower and bagged the silver with a 6.44s finish. Notably, Lyles had come second in the qualifying heat and Coleman had taken the win. But, the Budapest threepeater landed a new world lead for 2024 to surpass his rival.

Many doubt the capabilities of Noah Lyles in the shorter tracks. In fact, the 6x World Champ really was behind his compatriots until now.

The rise from behind and the way forward

Noah Lyles is known as a commendable force in the 200m category, However, many vouch for different athletes when it comes to the 100m track. Christian Coleman had defeated Lyles in September 2023 and put a blemish on his unbeaten season run.

Another one of his rivals, Fred Kerley, is also sought after instead of Noah Lyles in the 100m dashes. However, with the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix and the USATF Indoor Championship win, Lyles has proved that he isn’t just a one-trick pony. Now that he has beaten his home rivals with the new record, he will turn his aim to Usain Bolt once again.
