NCAA News: Four Collegiate Standout Athletes Ink Lucrative NIL Agreement With NB

Name, image, and likeness deals (NIL) benefit athletes in different ways. Apart from boosting confidence for budding athletes, such deals also identify the talents of emerging players. Like others, track and field collegiate athletes from across the country also came forward to explore their strength by signing NIL deals with the sports apparel giant New Balance.

After reigning Harvard’s NCAA Champion Runner Graham Blanks, Spring Grove senior Laila Campbell, standout runner Marcus Reilly, and Chesapeake star sprinter Brianna Selby, 4 collegiate track and field sprinters signed an NIL deal with New Balance ahead of track and field season 2024.

Taking to its X handle, Citius Mag highlighted the business aspect of track and field athletes. According to the latest post, 4 US track and field stars have signed a lucrative contract with New Balance. A dominant runner and the Webb School Of Bell Buckle (TN) junior, Abby Faith Cheeseman is an emerging talent who is looking forward to traversing her talent with the sports major brands. Taking to its official X handle, Citius Mag focused on Abby’s high-school career accomplishments.

The post caption reads ✍️ The Webb School Of Bell Buckle (TN) junior Abby Faith Cheeseman has signed an NIL deal with  @newbalance. She is fresh off running a back-to-back personal bests in the mile with a 4:48.87 at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix on Feb. 4 and then a 4:46.05 at the Millrose Games a week later. 2023 was a breakout year for her. She won the 2023 New Balance Nationals Outdoor Two-Mile title and then took 13th at the Foot Locker Nationals in December. She was named the Gatorade Tennessee Girls Cross Country Player of The Year for the third consecutive year.👀 Watch for her at the 2024 edition of New Balance Nationals Indoor on March 7-10 in Boston.”

Apart from Abby, other skillful track and field athletes included in this favorable partnership are Claire Stegall, Hanne Thomsen, and Patrick Hilby.

Exceptional athletes signed by New Balance

Claire Stegall is a junior runner at Nolensville High School in Tennessee who has left everyone in awe with her remarkable strength. As a sophomore, she claimed the New Balance Nationals indoor title by completing the fourth in the mile. Besides that, Claire also exhibited her talent by earning second at New Balance Nationals Outdoor events. She is among the best Tennessee runners, with a range from 800m to 5K. She claims to have a personal best time of 4:39.94.

Hailing from Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa, Hanne Thomsen is one of the junior athletes who also signed an NIL deal with New Balance. With her extraordinary skills, she also achieved notable achievements as a sophomore. By breaking Jordan Hasay’s California state record, she gave the fourth-best performance as a sophomore in U.S. high school history, completing second in the 2023 New Balance Nationals Indoor two-mile in 10:07.06.

An Aurora Central Catholic (IL) senior student athlete, Patrick Hilby has also shaken hands with NB. Last week, he clocked the fastest U.S. high school 800m time of the year at 1:50.50. He ranked second in Illinois history.

All 4 athletes who have signed the deal with NB will compete at the 2024 edition of New Balance Nationals Indoor on March 7-10 in Boston.
